Customer Service Associate

Amagansett Food Institute in Southampton, NY is looking for a motivated individual to join the team and help fulfill our nonprofit mission of helping people access local food. The Customer Service Associate is a part-time position reporting to the Food Business Development Manager and is responsible for ensuring the smooth daily operations of the South Fork Kitchens cafe at the Stony Brook University Southampton campus.

Primary duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Create a welcoming and energetic environment in the South Fork Kitchens cafe, with the highest standards of customer service and cleanliness.
  • Perform opening and closing duties for the cafe, including update of menus and cleaning.
  • Fulfill customer orders and complete charges via Square point of service system. Fulfill delivery orders in collaboration with 123 Delivery dispatcher and drivers.
  • Monitor and restock coffee station, beverages, salad bar and grab-and-go offerings. Replenish paper supplies in the cafe as needed.
  • Monitor cafe cleanliness and ensure a clean and tidy environment at all times, including clearing dishes, wiping down countertops, sweeping and mopping floors and other cleaning as assigned.
  • Receive and monitor inventory of all deliveries for cafe food and supplies.

The Customer Service Associate is expected to work from 9:00am to 3:00pm on weekdays, which includes work responsibilities before, during and after cafe hours (10:00am to 2:00pm, Monday-Friday), with additional hours to be assigned as needed. The pay rate is $15 per hour. Additional optional shifts may be offered based on scheduled activities during evenings and weekends.

The ideal candidate will have experience working in a restaurant or deli. Candidates must be able to understand and speak English and be able to lift packages up to 30 lbs.
